Before going through Goodreads...again, to find reads for the new year I only had 7 books that I was looking forward to. At the end I will tell you which book in January I'm the most excited about and will most likely buy.
The Impostor Queen by Sarah Fine Publication Date: January 5 The Impostor Queen is about a girl name Elli who was chosen to succeed the Queen, who wields infinitely powerful ice and fire magic. When the Queen dies, the power doesn't enter Elli and is nowhere to be found. She flees to the outlands, the home of banished criminals, where she learns devastating new information about the Kupari magic and her prophecy.
Okay, I didn't give a good description of it, but this sounds so good
Shallow Graves by Kali Wallace Publication Date: January 26 17 year old Breezy Lin dies and then wakes up in her shallow grave a year after her death. She doesn't remember who killed her or why, all she knows is that she’s somehow conscious—and not only that, she’s able to sense who around her is hiding a murderous past. Breezy sets off to find out what she is with hunters trying to kill creatures like her.
This sounds like a zombie/walker book, but told from the zombie/walker point of view instead of a non-walker, zombie.
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard Publication Date: January 5 Two witchy best friends from the Witchlands want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. Safiya must keep her gift hidden, or she be used as a pawn between empires. Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her, but her own. A prince who is a windwitch and a bloodwitch is after Safiya.
Again with the bad description, I'm not really excited about it, but it's one of the books I'm looking forward to.
Harry Potter Creatures Coloring Book Publication Date: January 26 Who doesn't want to be a kid again and just sit back and relax and color? It's a great stress reliever and this would be my first 'adult' coloring book.
14 Days To Die by A.B. Whelan Publication Date: January 13 Sarah is a stay-at-home mom, with the perfect family, a handsome hardworking husband, and two beautiful children. Sarah has been living a lie, ignoring her past and avoids spying on her husband like other jealous wives. She doesn't want to jeopardize her comfortable dull life. Then one day a man with a heavy accent tells her that her husband has put a price on her head and is offered two week to counteroffer or die.
Um, if that doesn't sound gripping I don't know what is. I feel like I will be on the edge of my seat to know her secrets and why her husband wants her dead.
Strictly Between Us by Jane Fallon Publication Date: January 14 Tasmin and Michelle has been best friends and inseparable since childhood, now joined by Patrick, Michelle's husband. Bea, Tasmin's assistant heard that Patrick is a cheat, so Tasmin tries to set him up by using Bea, but Bea has her own agenda. Patrick is always one step ahead and she doesn't know how.
The description alone had me wanting to know what Bea is doing. I kind of have a hint on how Patrick is staying ahead, but I could be wrong.
Passenger by Alexandra Bracken Publication Date: January 5 A time travel book that takes place in New York (I think). I'm not even going to attempt to paraphrase this, because you'll just end up confused. I was debating on whether I should add this to the list, because lately I've been hearing not so good things about this book, which is putting me off. As of right now, I still want to read it, but I will read a sample first before buying.
Feverborn by Karen Marie Moning Publication Date: January 19 Can't tell you about it because it's the 8th book in the series. I'm sure you heard about this series. If you must know, I still haven't read Burned, because of that spoiler review I read and I didn't like the direction it took. For all I know, I might like it, but I've been putting it off, too scared to read it.
What books in January are you looking forward to the most?
