This is me. I've been let down my hyped up authors (not a bad thing) and books that I really don't want to read their books because I'm afraid of being let down. I would go out of the way to read negative reviews and find something that I wouldn't like and deem it as the reason on why I haven't read any thing from them. Wrong, I know. But when you've been burned a lot as I have (2015 consisted of it a lot, talk about reading slumps galore.) you will be a little apprehensive on picking one up to.
I don't have many authors on this list mind you, some I just know I would either like or not like. So here's the list of authors who works I want to read, but is still afraid to.
1.. Jodi Ellen Malpas: Works include This Man Trilogy, The One Night Trilogy, and a new book coming soon called The Protector. The moment I saw The Protector covered, I said I have to read that. Read the description and it was a done deal. But I've been wary on reading her books, especially the This Man Trilogy. I heard some not so good things about it (i.e. look what I said above about looking at negative review.) Plus it was so hyped up that I'm afraid that I will be let down. Like really afraid, I'm scared that I won't love it/like it like many people seem to do.
I recently downloaded the Kindle sample of the first book and I hope I will like it enough that I will buy it.
2. Karina Halle: She wrote The Artists Trilogy, The Dirty Angels Trilogy, The Pact, and many more. I do have two of her books on my Kindle, but haven't read them yet (obviously Nissa). I didn't read any negative reviews on her books, it's just the hype surrounding her books that got me. I'm no good at letting the hype not affect my reading experience (something I need to work on). I really don't know when I'm going to get to her books yet, but hopefully some time later this year.
3. Colleen Hoover: Works include Maybe Someday, The Slammed Trilogy, Ugly Love, Confess, November 9, and more. Did you guess that she was going to be on the list? There's A LOT of hype surrounding her and her books. I read the Kindle sample of November 9 and I need it, but I'm going to get it from the Book Depository because I love the UK Cover, but then again I like the US cover. I'm confused now.
4. Sylvia Day: She wrote The Crossfire Series. Again, so hyped that I'm afraid that I won't like them. Especially that last two (?), I heard that some people didn't like the books after the third, so...
That's it for now. Well the ones that I could think of. Do you have any authors who books you haven't read because of all the hype surrounding them and/or books?
